In speaking with makeup artists on Hollywood sets, Cargo founder Hana Zalzal learned of the limitations of traditional makeup with the evolving technology of high-definition filming. She responded by creating blu_ray, a collection of five products that provide full coverage, yet look natural—a critical factor since any heavy coverage is amplified in high-definition. The collection uses ingredients such as color-correcting photochromatic pigments, micro-fine particles that create optical blurring and lip-smoothing hyaluronic acid. The pressed powder, gloss and highlighter compacts were designed to look like flat-screen hi-def TVs. There’s also a mattifier and a mascara. $20-$30.
